Why? Why? Why? Axel’s in that stage. I know this is normal for toddlers, but it can get oh-so-annoying…especially when you need to get a million things done. But wait. The reality is that his curiosity is precious. Precious–that word makes me cringe a bit, but precious it is. And I’m the one (in his eyes) with all the answers. Note: I do NOT have all the answers. How incredible is it that he is curious–hungry for information, constantly wanting to know more? So, instead of giving half-ass answers I’m urging myself to be more intentional–not only about taking time to answer the whys, but creating an environment where he can explore and discover.
Since it’s (technically) spring, I thought this would be a great place to be intentional. We gathered all the spring-like books in the house to read. I found a magnifying glass and scrounged up some spring items–seeds, moss, flowers, feathers…stuff like that. We would have gone outside, but it was actually snowing much to our disapproval…yes snowing, in Michigan, in April.
Axel was thrilled–he carefully evaluated all the spring objects with his magnifying glass and paged through the books to find similar items that we had read about.
What are some of your favorite spring time books?
