I have heaps of lavender in my yard––I’m not complaining, I love the smell AND I love the taste of it! I’ve made a few batches of Lavender Simple Syrup and I thought I’d share this super easy recipe with you. There are several drinks you can add this syrup to––I’ve included a list of favorites below, but if you have more ideas please share!
Lavender Simple Syrup
Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. Lavender blooms (I used fresh, but you can also use dried) *You can also substitute Rosemary for another great simple syrup!
Directions:
Place water and lavender in a saucepan and boil. Once boiling, add sugar and turn off heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Let the liquid set, stirring occasionally, until cooled. Strain/remove the lavender. Place in a container (I used a glass bottle) and refrigerate. It lasts about two weeks.
Easy ways to use your lavender simple syrup.
The amount you add is really up to you and how strong you want the lavender flavor.
Lavender Lemonade (I use about a tablespoon per glass of lemonade and stir well)
Vodka Lavender Lemonade (so good!) You can do this shaken or stirred––shaken and straight up is my favorite!
Lavender Iced Tea (I use about a tablespoon per glass and stir well)
Lavender Coffee and Cream (add 1 tablespoon of cream and 1 tablespoon lavender syrup to my coffee cup).
Stay tuned for bar cart ideas and my favorite gins!
