To market to market…to buy a fat pig. Well, I don’t really plan on buying a pig (although this Iowa girl does love a good pork chop). I just want fresh fruits and veggies. Heaps of them. I’m SO ready for the Farmers Market to open! We are farmers market maniacs over here, if there ever was such a thing!
Our local Holland Farmers Market (it’s amazing) doesn’t open until May 18 so we’ll just have to sit tight a little longer. In the meantime, Axel and I have been reading our favorite farmers market related books (see details below). We’ve hand-picked a few that we absolutely love—and we hope you do too!
Oh, and I’m finding more reasons to buy bags. Who doesn’t love a great market bag to carry all that bounty in? You don’t have to feel guilty about purchasing this adorable (and reversible) market carry-all because it’s under $9. Yep, $9 buckaroos. The reversible/inside is red stripes, and there is a nice little pocket too! How about that?
The Forest Feast For Kids
This is a gem of a cookbook. Perfect for any age. The recipes are simple, the pages are gorgeous. I’m also madly in love with The Forest Feast.
It Will Be Okay
The first time I read this book I felt like it was for me–even though it’s a children’s book. The metaphor is beautiful. Read it, you’ll see what I mean.
Farm Anatomy
Another all time favorite. Axel and I could spend hours upon hours reading and investigating each page of this extraordinary book. (We also love Nature Anatomy.)
The Man Who Cooked for Himself
This was my ALL TIME favorite book growing up. There’s nothing better than reading your favorite stories to your own babe. Priceless.
Charley Harper 123s
It’s simple, it’s sweet. For the younger ones.
We’re Going to the Farmers’ Market
We love the artwork in this book. It’s another sweet and simple one for the littles.
Reversible Market Bag
So, I actually bought this bag for $6 because they were having 50% off bags at Hobby Lobby when I was there. Right now, they’re offering 30% online which makes it $8ish. Either way, it’s a super great deal!
