FACT: According to the National Human Trafficking Hotline and Resource Center, human trafficking in the U.S. increased by 35.7% in 2016 alone.

FACT: Sex trafficking in the United States is a $32-billion-per-year industry (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime).

FACT: A trafficked minor is sold up to 15 times a day for sex. (U.S. State Department, 2014) Also, One in three teens on the street will be lured toward prostitution within 48 hours of leaving home. (National Runaway Hotline, 2015)
FACT: According to the U.S. State Dept., there are currently more than 1.5 million people within North America who are victims of sex or labor trafficking. (This number does not include victims of drug trafficking.)
FACT: According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, between 100,000 and 300,000 underage youth are “at risk” for commercial sexual exploitation in the U.S. every year.
FACT: The newest trend in trafficking is the increasing demand for young children and even babies. These babies are being sold for slave labor or more commonly, for sexual slavery. Children are also trafficked to the black market to be used for their organs. This is a shocking and sad reality. Children are an appealing target for traffickers because they are easily obtained and bring a high price on the market. Most significantly, babies cannot fight back—they are defenseless, voiceless, and helpless. Unless he or she is rescued, a child trafficked in this way grows up without a sense of value or dignity.
FACT: As mandated by the WAR, Int’l board, ninety percent of the profit from product sales goes back into our programs. (Look at the adorable items for children here––great gift ideas!)
